キャリアは長いこと語られている「スペシャリスト」と「ゼネラリスト」。わたしが就職活動をしていた90年代後半は、スペシャリスト志向が絶対くらいの勢いがありました。もしかしたら今もスペシャリスト信仰は高いかもしれません。にもかかわらず、わたし自身はずっとゼネラリストであることをキャリアの軸に置いています。本書が記すように、ゼネラリストの方が良いかどうかは、日本社会に当てはまるとまた異なる結果が出るかもしれませんが、この論争については各人の適性・志向を信じて選択するしかないとしか言いようがないのかなと考えています。キャリアに悩んだ時、アナタはスペシャリストとして生きていきたいのか、ゼネラリストとして生きていきたいのか、大きな軸かと思うので、この軸で考えてみるのも手かもしれません。
